Xiphasia matsubarai, known commonly as the Japanese snake blenny in Guam, Micronesia, the United Kingdom, and South Africa,[1] is a species of combtooth blenny in the genus Xiphasia.[2] It is found in the Pacific and Indian oceans.[2] It was named by Y. Okada and K. Suzuki in 1952,[3] and can reach a maximum length of 30 centimetres.[2] Blennies in this species feed primarily off of bony fish.[4]
